BKDW (Black Knight DW)
DW Treasurer & Scorekeeper
The fun, the camaraderie, the golf and the memories of
being a DW are “priceless”! My first DW name
was OBDW, for Old Blue-EyesDW. This was given to me by the
HDW, the only member of group that can officially give a
DW acronym, since I wrote the lyrics to the DW Anthem, “I’m
a DW”. The Anthem is sung to the tune of “I’m
a Girl Watcher” by the Okaysions, and the lyrics go
like this:
I’m a DW
I’m a DW
Watchin’ pars go by
My, My, My
I’m a DW
I’m a DW
And I’m proud….
When I was just boy
And I threw away my toys
I found a new pastime
To dwell on.
Golf is just a game
We play without a dame
So we can drink and have some fun.
Oh,
I’m a DW
I’m a DW
Watchin’ pars go by
My, My, My
I’m a DW
I’m a DW
And I’m proud…
Wonder if you know
I put on a putting show
So I can walk a little slower
Everyone in town
Knows when one’s around
We tip our hats a little lower
Oh,
I’m a DW
I’m a DW
Watchin’ pars go by
My, My, My
I’m a DW
I’m a DW
And I’m proud
Here comes one now.
Shortly after the Anthem hit the charts my name was changed
to BKDW for Black Knight DW. I believe this name is given
since I never give up and I am always adding up each player’s
score, hence good with numbers and why the money and statistics
are jobs assigned to me.
On a more personal side, I have had the pleasure to have
known many of my fellow Bethesda Chapter DWs since my early
years although they might deny this fact. Also, Grey Goose
is one of my favorite drinks.
Doing something like this to raise money for the cause
of eradicating breast cancer in memory of Debra Nichols
leaves us all with a warm, warm feeling, a feeling that
Debra always had for us. We miss her! I’m a DW and
I’m proud.
